    Introductions and Collect contact information

Pick facilitator and note taker. Note taker must email new contact list and meeting minutes to group. Also post minutes on occupygreensboro.org under meeting minutes and create a doc on Facebook Occupy Greensboro Energy Working Group.

    Proposals and Discussion Topics

    • Canvassing: What to do with the information collected and report backs.
Next Energy meeting we will try and figure out how to process the information we have already gathered. There were many ideas on what the information could be used for. One idea that was discussed would be a radio drama. Create the peoples stories and alter what there story would be in the worst scenario of each energy crisis. Nuclear, coal, natural gas, etc.
    • Report backs for assigned topics
      • Emiley: NCUC, what are they up to?
No new developments on the NCUC website.
      • Val: Annual Rate Hike Bill and organizations filling against rate hike.
        No information found yet
      • Al: Who worked where and for who in the current and past NCUC.
The NCUC seems clean, only 2 of the current commissioners used to work for law firms, chairman Finley and commissioner brown-bland. The rest worked for non-profits and so forth. The one conflict that Al found was that the commissioners have to do what they can to keep their seat as a commissioner appointed by the Governors. Also asked about energy books for us to use as resources.
      • Kristen: Connections to other energy groups.
Greenpeace and there new development with Quit Coal.
      • Julie: Gathered more research on Duke Energy.
We discussed a power strike but research showed us that the state has in play, a energy company gets paid 70% of the power not used that is not caused due to conservation of energy.

    Other discussions:

    • Class action law suite and what are the possibilities of this as a measure.
    • Plan to sit down with NC Justice and come up with the type of questions that we need answers to.
    • Countrywatch as a tool?
    • What would Duke Energy fear most? – No lobbyists, Energy regulations, Loss of invested interest.

Note: General Assembly started at 7:10 to give any stragglers from the City Council Meeting who wanted to come a chance to show up.
