Grants

Like individuals and institutions across the globe, F4DC faces a difficult financial environment. This makes leveraging every dollar available for the greatest possible impact critical to our mission. As the environmental, economic, and social systems around us collapse, it is more important than ever for people to organize themselves to respond to these challenges through creative and flexible institution building.

For these reasons, we’re launching a matching grants program to encourage grassroots groups to build their capacity for self-support. For approved groups and projects, we will match – dollar-for-dollar – money raised through grassroots efforts. Funds raised from foundation and government sources will not be eligible for matching.

How to apply:

  1. Download the F4DC Matching Grant Information Packet. This document outlines what we do and do not fund and has all kinds of guidance to help you complete a great application. You should also download the Sample Application to get a sense of the kinds of information we look for in each grant request.
  2. Download the Matching Grant Application Form (pdf, doc).
  3. Answer all the questions on the Application form with complete and accurate answers.
  4. Gather photocopies of required and related documents that illustrate what your group or project is doing and how you raised the money you want F4DC to match. (Please do not send original documents. These may not be returned to you.)
  5. Get two authorized representatives of your group to sign the Grant Agreement portion of the Application.
  6. Send your completed, signed Application and related materials to:
    Fund for Democratic Communities
    620 S. Elm St, Suite 355
